Our 200-hour Yoga Alliance Recognized Power Yoga Teacher Training (RYS Certificate) program is the only course of its kind in Ottawa . With its roots in classical Hatha Yoga we will journey from this foundation into the dynamic world of Power Yoga.  FLYER: PYTT 2010-11 Flyer (as at 08-Jan-2010).

CERTIFICATION:
Upon completion of this program you will recieve certification through Mountaingoat Yoga Centre and be certified to teach Hot Power, Power or Hatha yoga as recognized by the YOGA ALLIANCE.  This certification is the assurance required by insurance companies and potential employers that you meet the necessary requirements and qualifications of a Certified Yoga Teacher.

This course is open to those with an ongoing practice of a year or more and who are ready for a 200 hour program.

Our emphasis will be on the practical knowledge and application through the well-rounded study of the following:

TOPICS:

  • History & Philosophy - (traditional & contemporary) Explore the roots of yoga and its various branches on the great tree of yoga - including the evolution of Power Vinyasa Yoga. Understanding the various philosophies that grow from this great tree.
  • Anatomy & Physiology - Gaining knowledge of the different systems of the body and applying it to the teaching of yoga.
  • Pranayama - A wide variety of breath work.
  • Yoga Techniques - Alignment,  postures (asana) pranayama (breath) learning a broad spectrum of postures along with the benefits and modifications/variations of each.  Cultivation of meditation & mindfullness.
  • Teaching Methodology - Creating inspirational classes - innovative sequencing - learning the skill of hands-on adjustments
  • Business & Ethics - Establishing a student base in your professional practice - financial considerations - ethics and guidelines essential to the Certified Yoga Teacher
  • Class Development -  learn to put together full class sequences that target everything from the hips to overall body.  Will include inversions ie; headstand
  • Practicum - sharing the spirit of yoga through the opportunity to practice in groups and to present as a teacher

FACULTY: Heather Moore and Tara Vicckies.  Both are Experienced Registered Yoga Teachers (E-RYT) recognized by Yoga Alliance.  They are committed to uncovering their students’ strengths and assisting the development their true teaching style. They support each participant in developing a deeper relationship to Yoga in an straightforward, unbiased and practical manner. 

COST: $2,600 +HST   Cost includes - 180 contact hours of training (at Kanata location), all required texts, handouts, field trips/guest teachers & a 10 class card for Mountaingoat Yoga Centre.
