CREATIVITY.  INNOVATION.  FLOW.     Great Power Yoga Teachers are in demand.  A great power yoga class requires a teacher that is creative, innovative and accommodating to the needs of their students. This PYTT is focused on developing each teacher’s unique individual style towards this goal.  Join us and learn to lead an inspiring and effective class that combines breath, strength, grace and fluid motion into your teaching ability. 

CERTIFICATION:  Mountaingoat Yoga Centre has been a recognized 200-hour school by Yoga Alliance (www.yogalliance.org) since 2006.  The certification you receive through this program is an assurance to your students, employers and insurance companies, that you meet the necessary standards and qualifications as a Certified Yoga Teacher.  Upon successful completion of this program you will recieve certification through Mountaingoat Yoga Centre.  You will be qualified to teach Hot Power, Power, Vinyasa, Hatha Flow or Classical Hatha yoga.  

PRE-REQUISITES:  This course is open to those with an ongoing practice of a year or more and who are ready for a 200 hour program. The program is for those who are ready to next their yoga practice to the next level.  NOT REQUIRED: super strength or flexibility or the ability to perform every yoga posture.    TOPICS: Our emphasis is on the practical knowledge and application through the well-rounded study of the following:

  • History & Philosophy - (traditional & contemporary) Explore the roots of yoga and its various branches on the great tree of yoga - including the evolution of Power Vinyasa Yoga. Understanding the various philosophies that grow from this great tree.
  • Anatomy & Physiology - Gaining knowledge of the different systems of the body and applying it to the teaching of yoga.
  • Pranayama - A wide variety of breath work.
  • Yoga Techniques - Alignment,  postures (asana) pranayama (breath) learning a broad spectrum of postures along with the benefits and modifications/variations of each.  Cultivation of meditation & mindfullness.
  • Teaching Methodology - Creating inspirational classes - innovative sequencing - learning the skill of hands-on adjustments
  • Business & Ethics - Establishing a student base in your professional practice - financial considerations - ethics and guidelines essential to the Certified Yoga Teacher
  • Class Development -  learn to put together full class sequences that target everything from the hips to overall body.  Will include inversions ie; headstand
  • Practicum - sharing the spirit of yoga through the opportunity to practice in groups and to present as a teacher

TRAINING DATES:

  • 2012 Summer Intensive DATES: More intensive than our regular program due to shorter timelines, this includes five full weekends, including full days on Fridays, plus weekly Tuesday evening classes. 
  • 2012-13 Program DATES: Only one weekend a month for eight months, plus classroom time in weekly Tuesday evening sessions.

FACULTY: Heather Moore and Tara Vicckies.  Both are Experienced Registered Yoga Teachers (E-RYT) recognized by Yoga Alliance.  They are committed to uncovering their students’ strengths and assisting the development their true teaching style. They support each participant in developing a deeper relationship to Yoga in an straightforward, unbiased and practical manner.

OUR APPROACH:  We provide an encouraging & supportive learning environment.  Individual attention is essential.  We are committed to uncovering our students’ unique & true teaching style.  We honour tradition while acknowledging the natural evolution of yoga through contemporary innovations.  We LOVE yoga and want to share it with YOU.
